About Orange Door
About the designer Annette ten Cate is a graduate of the 3-year Graphic Design Program and the Art Fundamentals Program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. Prior to opening Orange Door Design, her work experience encompassed a range of companies in the graphics industry, providing her with a strong base of knowledge. She has worked as a designer at a printing company, at a communications company (marketing department), and at a small Design House near Toronto. Annette’s ultimate goal has always been to bring her wealth of experience, design talents and special personal touch to her own business in her home town of Guelph, Ontario. Orange Door Design is conveniently located in the downtown area of the beautiful “Royal City”, close to parking and a number of interesting shops and restaurants. In addition to her graphic design work, Annette is a sculptor, and is a member of the Guelph Sculpture Group. To view some of Annette's ceramic sculpture, go to the page 'Helpful info'.
About the name “Orange Door” Orange is a colour that has special significance for Annette. Its energy and vibrancy represent creativity in the theory of colour philosophy, a particularly apt symbol for a graphic designer. But orange also has a deep personal connection for Annette – it is the colour that Holland, the country of her heritage, uses to mark celebratory events. The opening door in the Orange Door logo represents her belief in the collaborative nature of the design process – the most effective designs are the result of discussion, debate and full participation.
